Draw Your Story!

Tell a short personal story through words and pictures in this graphic illustration workshop taught by a talented young animation artist.

Grounded in George Takei’s They Called Us the Enemy, participants will construct an auto-biographical strip of one or more panels. We will use the comic as a reference for style, voice, drawing and narrative.

The class will cover development of your personal story idea, writing the script and drawing, with guidance from the instructor.

After the initial Saturday workshop, class participants will have time to refine their illustrated story on their own and present it to the class on a weekday evening via Zoom. The completed stories will be publicly displayed online, at an in-person Malden Reads event and potentially through a short-term exhibit.
